Uma’s family owns 30 cent land which is meager by any standard. Uma assisted by her family uses 15 cents for producing jasmine. The production season is for 6 months April to September. The initial investment is Rs 2700 and the production period is 30 years. She spends Rs 2100 for every production cycle of two months and get a net profit of Rs 525 for each cycle. Annually thus she earns Rs 3150 ( 42 pounds).

Uma is a member of Mullai group started in 2004. The group has secured direct bank loan twice - Rs 25,000 & 50,000. Five members have got project lending of Rs 5000 each for economic activity. Project has also given education loan of Rs 4000. Besides other training the members have got three day training in milch animal management.
