Health education Providers to SHG's

Health Training

CRUSADE provide health education to all SHG members at village level through the field staff and Federation Volunteers. A training Manual “Makkal Marthuvam” was developed for the purpose which has 10 modules. The Training of Trainers is done by the Homeopath doctor who later monitors village level training. Started in April 2008 the programme completed 9 modules for 4000 members by March,2010. Each training session take 2-3 hours. We have conveyed the information to around 60-70% of the SHGs .Our Health Training programme will be completed by April 2010

SHG members training on primary health

All group members undergo the ten modules of health training on primary health. Each session is of 2 to 3 hours duration. The training enhances the health knowledge of the community

Homoeopathy Clinic

CRUSADE runs a three day a week clinic at its Karanodai centre and a one day clinic at Minjur. A qualified Homoeopath is managing the clinic..
During the year April 2009 – March 2010 around 208 new cases and 445 repeat cases attended the clinic.
Health problems like polycystic Ovarian diseases, Pelvic Inflammatory diseases, Anemia Thyroid disorders, uterine Fibroids, Infertility are more common among women. Worm Infestations, respiratory tract infections, Tonsilitis seems to be common among children.
Adoloscent girls commonly suffer from Anemia And menstrual irregularities.

Diabetis mellitus and Hyper tension seems to be increasing rapidly especially at younger age groups .

Dental camps

        

In collaboration with a Dental College, CRUSADE organized three dental camps in project villages. Around 266 members presented themselves during the camps and got themselves treated.

Diabetes and Hypertension Diagnostic camps:

CRUSADE had organized 33 camps in project villages. In all 800 members got themselves tested for Diabetes mellitus and out of which 97 were new cases, 35 on the borderline and 71 patients were under treatment. Around 1429 members were checked for hypertension .We could find 83 new cased,25 borderline cases,35 patients under treatment. They were offered counseling and referral services.

Patient named Mrs.Sarala aged 25,Atipedu village Sholavaram Block was diagnosed as Diabetic during the camp conducted in her village.Her blood sugar level was 464 mg/dl(PP) tested during the camp she was referred to our clinic and is being treated for diabetes and minor illness like sinusitis.After treatment her blood sugar level has come down to 228mg dl (PP) she is advised to continue the treatement till the blood sugar level is under control. She is also advised to follow proper diet regimen and regular walking.

CRUSADE has been promoting sanitary toilets at individual level in its project area . Financial assistance has been provided for 38 members in both Sholavaram and Minjur block during 2009-10
