Member Security & student scholarship

There has been a good response from members for joining the low premium Janashree Bima Yojana Insurance scheme of Life Insurance Corporation which not only covers the life of the member but extends scholarship up to two children of the member studying in 9th to 12th. In 2006-07, 4163 women members have joined the scheme. During the year. 12 members died and LIC settled the claims to the tune of Rs 3,20,000 ( Rs 30,000 for 8 and Rs 20,000 for 4 ). In addition, 996 students have been given scholarship by LIC and released Rs 11,95,200 at Rs 1200 each. School authorities and panchayat presidents were involved while distributing the money to the students .
