Action Rural Housing

Action Rural Housing (ARH) was incorporated as a non profit company under sction 25 of Companies Act 1956. The main object of the company is to promote hygienic and healthy living of the people in rural communities through proper housing.

On an experimental basis , two SHG members ( one each in Minjur and Sholavaram) advanced larger loan of Rs 60,000 each from share capital of the Not-for profit Housing Comapany –ARH, incorporated in October , 2005 and commenced business in February, 2006. CRUSADE supplied Bricks produced with SMB ( stabilized mud blocks) technology. As there was no need for plastering in this construction, the cost has come down by 25% which is the whole objective of the venture. Construction of both the houses have been completed and following these examples there is demand for more such assistance from other members. Lesser amount for completion of unfinished houses is also being considered for select cases. During the year in all 8 members have been assisted with loans ranging from Rs 35,000 to Rs 60,000. Based on the resources , it is planned to assist 20 houses in 2007-08 , some of them for renovation.
