Sustainability of the Project – devolving responsibilities to CBOs Sustainability is crucial for continuity of programmes. It has to be analyzed in terms of organisational, financial and managerial matters. The sustainability of groups promoted by CRUSADE is demonstrated by the fact that the very first group formed in 1992 is still going strong and the group has enough of their own funds to fulfill their independent needs and most members of the group have built houses of their own, availing assistance from CRUSADE. Our current goal is to have our SHGs completely independent of CRUSADE where they will be able to apply and receive any funding they require without our assistance. Once our groups achieve this, they will truly be sustainable. Programme sustainability CRUSADE had a series of meetings with Association members about the activities the association will assume responsibility in future. The association is willing to take up almost all functions from the organization in the next couple of years. Financial Sustainability Increasing number of groups are now linked to local banks and they are able to mobilize resources from Banks for their credit needs. They also avail themselves subsidy or grant from Government wherever feasible. The Association will have built enough Capital fund to meet the credit needs of groups which for any reason are not able to get credit from Banks and are otherwise eligible.
A
trust with Tamil name "Pudhumai Pengal Kootamaippu" was registered
in May 2007. All except one of 14 trustees were drawn from Panchayat
Level Federations. Village level women Self Help Groups and
Panchayat Level Federations are affiliated to the trust. SHGs are members
of the trust. The trust eventually will have seperate office and will
function independently. |
