Training TAI partners in SHG Management

Tamil Nadu AIDS Initiative (TAI) is a funding agency implementing AIDS prevention and control activity in 13 districts of Tamil Nadu. At the request of TAI, CRUSADE trained TAI partner NGO staff in SHG management in 2006. Again, TAI requested CRUSADE to do a follow-up of this training (on SHG management) to partner NGOs in 2007. CRUSADE organized the training in two batches of three days each in 2007, giving the follow up training to 41 NGO staff from 12 districts. It would be interesting to note that unlike in earlier training conducted for TAI, most sessions were handled by CRUSADE staff themselves. Thus it was a capacity building process for CRUSADE staff also. Now the staff are confident of training other NGO staff in SHG concept. The experience will be of help in coordinating capacity building of elected representatives of Panchayat Institutions from other districts. CRUSADE Secretary was engaged by TAI as a Technical expert to lead one of the three teams to evaluate TAI funded NGOs in Tamil Nadu. The team evaluated 8 NGOs in 5 districts in 2008.
