CRUSADE engaged itself in a limited way in helping affected coastal villages in Minjur in Thiruvallur district and in Nagapattinam district

Action Village India supported Sevalaya of Nagappattinam through CRUSADE in renewing LIC Insurance policies of 189 Tsunami women victims for the second year . AVI provided Rs 215,000 ( 46 %) towards this. This will provide a long term security to these fisherwomen shattered by Tsunami.

Although Minjur is less affected by Tsunami , TN government has declared it Tsunami affected and offered to provide Rs 20,000 more subsidy to groups which have been granted earlier Revolving Fund with Rs 10,000 subsidy based on poverty profile of members. As mentioned elsewhere in the report most Minjur groups are getting the benefit.
